At Virtue Homes, we pride ourselves on meeting your exact design build standards and specifications while staying within your allotted budget. Your choice to build your custom home with Virtue Homes is what allows us to do what we do best each and every day, and we will always respect your budget while building your residential construction project. As custom home builders, we have learned that it is extremely difficult to give an exact figure on the cost of a custom home. The beauty of custom homes is the level of design build customization and specification each client enjoys. However, because of the number of design build decisions available, the price can widely vary. As such, we provide our customers with an estimate based on the kind of custom home they want to build, which will be settled into a final price as the build process progresses.

While there is always a possibility that unforeseen circumstances will add length to your custom home design build project, our general timeline for residential construction is as follows:

  • Lot Selection: 1-3 weeks
  • Plan Design: 4-8 weeks
  • Contract & Budget: 4-6 weeks
  • Construction: 14-18 weeks
  • Close Out / Move-In: 1-2 weeks

Based on this schedule, your residential construction project should be completed within 24 – 37 weeks!

There is no one-size fits all solution for building custom homes, and at Virtue Homes, we pride ourselves on creating solutions that meet our client’s exact needs. Some clients do not have the time or the desire to make thousands of decisions or wait through a longer design build timeline. For those clients, we proudly offer our line of semi-custom homes!

There are many factors to consider when choosing a lot for your custom home residential construction process. First, we always recommend our clients tour their potential future neighborhood and take note of the distance from work, school (also make note of the school district), as well as nearby resources such as grocery stores, shopping, and entertainment.

We also recommend taking note of the topography of the lot. Lots with excess rocks and trees will require additional work to remove them before residential construction can begin. Additionally, if your lot does not have existing hookups for plumbing and/or electricity, connecting costs can costs tens of thousands of dollars.
